Edward Craig Moore is an aspiring aircraft engineer, born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. Craig is now an instrument-rated private pilot and an Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic with the foundation. He has always been known to have a very special connection to aviation. Both his grandfather and his grandfather’s brother-in-law were Tuskegee Airmen. Craig has always looked to their legacy for inspiration and as a bar to gauge himself with. He came to Tuskegee to continue the legacy that his family helped to start.
Shortly after arriving at Tuskegee University in 2009, he began working at Moton Field as a lineman and part-time mechanic assistant. Craig graduated from Tuskegee in 2015 with a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering. After graduating, Craig worked as an engineering technician at Scaled Composites LLC, assisting in the modification of Boeing 737’s, but I quickly realized that my heart was back in Tuskegee working with general aviation.
In 2017 he purchased a small airplane with some money I saved from his job as an engineer. The aircraft was in desperate need of tender love care, and over the last year, he restored it with the help of his brother who is a certified aircraft mechanic. His goal is to bring the aircraft to Moton Field to be used as a training tool for pilots, mechanics, and engineers. Craig is currently towards his commercial pilot rating and plans to soon return to school for a Master’s Degree.
