SUCCESS STORIES Edward Craig Moore

Ready to Soar

by Edward Craig Moore

I am Edward Craig Moore, an aspiring aircraft engineer, mechanic, and student pilot. I was born an raised in New Orleans, Louisiana and am currently working to gain my aircraft mechanics license in Auburn Alabama. I have a very special connection to aviation. Both my grandfather and his brother-in-law were Tuskegee Airmen. I have always looked to their legacy for inspiration and as a bar to gauge myself with. I came to Tuskegee to continue the legacy that my family helped to start.

Shortly after arriving at Tuskegee University I began working at Moton Field as a lineman and part time mechanic assistant. After graduating I worked as an aircraft engineer, assisting in the modification of Boeing 737’s, but I quickly realized that my heart was back in Tuskegee working with general aviation.

In 2017 I purchased a small airplane with some money I saved from my job as an engineer. The aircraft was in desperate need of tender loving care, and over the last year I restored it with the help of my brother who is a certified aircraft mechanic. My goal is to bring the aircraft to Moton field to be used as a training tool for pilots, mechanics, and engineers. I am extremely grateful for the Red Tail Foundation and its donors for the opportunity to further my education, certifications, and outreach to the community.
